Update: Now that LinkedIn destroyed our beloved Pulse app, The new Heartfeed app is an acceptable alternative. This was the best app on my phone, now its gone. I would have been sad if LinkedIn had just killed it dead, but replacing it with this version of Pulse is insulting. Why should I continue to trust LinkedIn with my contacts and professional relationships after this clumsy and arrogant takeover ? Pulse used to be a news reader -- even if the current version was good -- its no longer an RSS news reader? Its like ordering a steak and getting a box of Q-tips. If you know about any good alternative RSS readers, please post them here as part of your review. I miss our old Pulse -- several times a day, every day. I am slowly learning how to use other apps like Lire and Newsify, they are OK, but they are pale shade of the news reading experience I once enjoyed with Pulse. The new Heartfeed app is pretty good with a smiler look and feel of old Pulse, especially since they added images.
Horrific! Pathetic! I could sit here all day cursing what destruction has befallen this formerly good app. Now it is trash and certainly not even worth a download to take a look. Trust all the negative reviews because they are accurate. Any good ones are likely paid for and planted here.
Linked In: What the heck is wrong with you? 99% of the comments here are about how you took a once great app and destroyed it. No one wants this app yet you keep updating it with "bug fixes" and remind people to rate it. Its bad enough youre ignoring your users needs and requests to fix what you broke, but you needlessly waste time developing a useless application which must take quite a bit of time and money to produce, and lets face it. Your financials arent exactly stellar at the moment. Stop pouring salt in the wound and wasting your resources. Either fix the app back to what it used to be or pull the plug. Youre embarrassing yourself, your CEO should be fired.
I still cant believe my all time favorite app was completely ruined...
Agree with the other unhappy users. LinkedIn ruined a perfectly good news app. Frankly, any other newsreader is better. Ill switch back to using Twitter and the USA Today app.
Ive using Pulse for as long as it has been out, 6 or so years, and it was always great but kept getting better with each update, UNTIL LinkedIn decided to COMPLETELY change the format and now you get, oh joy, curated news from some algorithm thats supposed to know what you like better than you do. And good luck adding content you enjoy, because now youre limited to what Linked allows you to read...FYI the conservative view point is like nill. Additionally it force in content from your LinkedIn account so when you want to relax and the news in your spare time youre FORCED to pursue articles written by head hunters and your coworkers....what a pile of sh_t Pulse has become. Really disappointing to see LinkedIn do this...makes me want to cancel my LinkedIn account.
Good articles/content ... so it seemed til trying to play a video. Does not work out of the box. Poor experience.
I liked the fact that not only linkedIn gives you the option to connect & re-connect with the right people when it comes to an economic situation, it also uses its own app to separate the difference between social networking & employment opportunities. You are able to interact with networks of people through posting on the newsfeed with current events and other media sources. I LOVE IT!!!! It beats Facebook & Twitter.
I used to use Pulse all the time then a few months ago it mysteriously stopped updating and, while irritated, I moved on and kinda forgot about it. Today I was cleaning up my phone and ran across poor old Pulse and spent a little while figuring out what happened. Look at the other reviews here. Wow. Needless to say, I affirm what everyone else is saying here. I deleted my old app and downloaded the new Pulse and it is in fact total garbage. LinkedIn really ruined an excellent app.
The once wonderfully brilliant Pulse application is destroyed by LinkedIn Poindexters. So, I deleted the app that they turned into a dead brick and switched to the "ANews"reader app. While short of where the original, supremely elegant Pulse was in its prime, it is the closest that I could find in function, look, feel, and usefulness.
LinkedIn has officially destroyed the pulse app. Its a shadow of its former self. Virtually no former functionality is present in this version of the app. Its basically a force-fed LinkedIn feed. Why acquire a fantastic app and it users if youre just going to kill it? I get that the tech could have proved important however, why not just call it LinkedIn feed. Would it have been that hard to write your own app that was just a LinkedIn feed?
The title says it all.
Now its garbage. This is what happens when you take a good thing, sell it to a money/advertisement centric company, and makes it a wannabe Facebook-Business site, instead of a news aggregate. I hope everyone uninstalls this, to show them what an utter failure this has become.
This was once my favorite app, provided a seamless gap between devices. Today its useless. Seriously its terrible ...LinkedIn destroyed a great app.
The user selected grid format was a work of art. I used it for years. The new app is garbage and I have promptly deleted it. Will check out heartfeed that another user suggested.
Bring back the tile view for multiple sources or an optional view for it and additional news sources. It made you Pulse unique to all other news readers. It was the best one. Give your subscribers what they want. REALLY. Look at the reviews on the new version, you Blew it. Cmon, offer an optional view to see multiple sources. Really look at all of the reviews. LinkedIn: if you wanted a different app, why didnt you create something different and keep the prior version of pulse active for its dedicated followers. Why destroy and alienate the whole customer base. Pulse is nothing close to what it was. It was a solid unique app that provided 20 story options to quickly review and decide or review others. Now its one dimensional and its similar to the basic readers. So disappointed.
I used pulse many times a day for the past two or so years. However, the recent update totally destroyed this app. Really a shame as it was the best newsreader out there. Oh well, on to find something to replace it.
Since pulse was purchased by LinkedIn its useless and worthless. Deleted this app and will be trying a new one.
This means that exactly in the moment I need to comment I can be sure Pulse is there to remind me of key persons making news and firms that have something innovative to show. Pulse is like a karma for learning easy any new happening and the way it affects us.
